The 1924 Cushman Substation was the receiving substation for the Cushman Dam Project. Built entirely of reinforced concrete, the building and site are the subject of a cooperative integrated future use planning study with the City of Tacoma and local neighbors.

Richaven was contracted as the Preservation Architect to help understand the historical importance and significant features of these two substations and their environs. This research and documentation includes documentation of landmarks designations and how they will affect the potential future use of the building.
