The E. A. Walcher House was built circa 1922 in Perrigo’s Plat, one of the earliest platted parcels in the City of Redmond. The Arts & Crafts Craftsman style bungalow features a unique combination of features drawn from 1910s and 1920s plan books.
Supplementary research for this reconnaissance level survey discovered that features such as the side gabled roof, recessed full width porch that is low to the ground, and the large white columns with square capitals and bases were not uncommon and may have been drawn from California style bungalow pergolas and Gustav Stickley’s bungalow designs.
Close inspection on site discovered that the house does not retain integrity due to replacement of most exterior materials, changing setting, workmanship and feeling, and no association with historic people or events.
